First Generation PAs

The PA History Society would like to acknowledge the profession’s pioneering “First Generation,” those PAs from the 1960s and 1970s whose hard work and personal sacrifices laid the foundation for the privileges and opportunities that exist for PAs today.

The Society’s mission is to share the history of the development of the PA profession and illustrate how PAs continue to make a difference in our society and the medical community. Please visit our Biography section – If we are missing your BIO, please send it to the Society so that it can be included on the PAHx website. We invite the “First Generation” PAs to contact the PA History Society so that we can learn about your pioneering stories, and share significant experiences from the early development years with future generations.

You can support the work of the PA History Society by:

  • donating PA related documents, photographs, audio & video clips, books and other priceless artifacts for the Society’s archives,
  • providing the Society with your biography or oral history for inclusion on the website, and
  • making a tax deductible financial contribution.
