The Florida Gulf Coast University Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) is a full-time 27-month program preparing graduate level physician assistants. The mission of the MPAS Program is to prepare competent and effective primary care PAs who collaboratively practice with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. Florida Gulf Coast University is a public university located on 800 acres in Fort Myers, Florida.
The PA Program distinguishes itself with a low faculty-to-student ratio, state of the art laboratories, and strong community partnerships. The program admits 20 students each academic year beginning in August. The first cohort of students started the program in the fall of 2017 and will graduate in December of 2019. The second cohort began in August 2018.
The PA Program encourages student service and participation in community activities. Students celebrated PA week this year by working with Habitat for Humanity on a home building project. In November, the students organized a food drive and collected donations for a local food cooperative.
The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) granted the PA Program provisional accreditation in 2017.
