The University of Saint Joseph Physician Assistant Studies Program is a full-time 28-month program which enrolled its inaugural cohort of students in January, 2017. The program is a natural extension of the University’s mission, core Mercy values, and long-standing tradition of preparing the next generation of socially-minded health care providers.

The PA Program’s distinctive modular curriculum allows students to focus on learning one organ system at a time; enhancing their ability to fully integrate basic science and medical concepts related to that system through classroom and practical applied teaching methods. The faculty of PAs and physicians provide a low faculty-to-student ratio and work closely with students to provide them with relevant, real-world knowledge in renovated, dedicated classroom and laboratory environments.

USJ PA Students are active participants in their community. In keeping with the mission of the university and program, students are involved in various service activities throughout their training. In working with organizations such as the Miracle League of CT and Alex’s Lemonade Stand, students make an impact on members of the community of all ages and allow the students to gain a greater understanding of the lives of those they will care for as future PAs.

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) granted the PA Program provisional accreditation in 2016.
