The PA History Society: What’s in a Name?

X icon

Did you know? The PA History Society was established 24 years ago by two PAs, Reginald Carter and Jeff Henrich, and incorporated as the Society for the Preservation of Physician Assistant History, Inc. But most PAs have always known us as the PA History Society, PAHx, the Society, or the Physician Assistant History Society.

As the profession continues to evolve from using the term physician assistant to physician associate, or simply, PA, so has the PAHx. We recently legally changed our name officially to the PA History Society, Inc. We’re still the small national organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the PA profession, but now with a more concise name!
