Madison Taylor, PA-C

X icon

Madison Taylor grew up in a small town in Georgia. Early on she knew that she wanted to pursue a career that was rooted in service. She first discovered the physician assistant profession from her own personal provider. She admired her kindness, patience, and expansive medical knowledge. Ms. Taylor started to envision herself as that provider for other people. Throughout her college years she continued to be shaped by her various experiences at Mercy Health Center in Athens, Georgia, where she broadened her exposure to various patients and providers.

Ms. Taylor received her Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion with an emphasis in health services from the University of Georgia. She graduated in 2017. She was a recipient of the HOPE Scholarship, OIE General Scholarship and the Griffin Kiwanis Club Dan Boyd Scholarship.

Currently, Ms. Taylor is attending Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is working towards a dual degree in Masters of Public Health and Masters of Medical Science. She was the recipient of a HRSA grant aimed at the development of primary care practitioners.

During her undergrad years, Ms. Taylor worked as a respiratory therapist assistant, microbiology laboratory technician, volunteer at Mercy Health Center, and a medical assistant for the North Georgia Neurological Clinic. During the first year of her masters degree she returned to work at Griffin Homecare as a Durable Medical Equipment Specialist.

Ms. Taylor is a member of the Godsey Matthews Society, a student society for the Mercer University Physician Assistant class of 2021. She is also the class historian. Ms. Taylor belongs to the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. During undergrad, she was a member of the Phi Mu Fraternity, UGA Miracle, Campus Kitchen UGA, and The University of Georgia Order of Omega, a campus organization that recognizes the top 10% of greek leaders at UGA.

Ms. Taylor is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and as a Clinical Medical Assistant. She was awarded the Beth Martin Outstanding Affiliate Award in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, she was a speaker at the University of Georgia’s 10th Anniversary of Service-Learning Showcase.

Ms. Taylor was the Surgical Medicine Course Liaison for Mercer University and is working closely with faculty on researching the benefits of forensic medicine with aspirations to present this research in 2020.

In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, spending time with friends and family, and any activities that can get her outdoors. Through her PA program she volunteers with Grace Village Medical Clinic and Good Samaritan Health Center of Gwinnett.

Acknowledgments: This biography was written by Michelle Schabowski, with the assistance of Madison Taylor, and was submitted to the Society in January 2020.
